Plastic pollution is an environmental challenge that affects the sustainability of our planet. Non-biodegradable plastic pollutes oceans, rivers, and soils. Plastic waste breaks down into microplastic particles that are ingested by marine organisms, thereby entering the food chain and eventually reaching our own food. This process harms biodiversity, contaminates water sources, and impacts human health. Environmental sustainability aims to reduce these effects by minimizing the use of single-use plastics, promoting recycling, and encouraging the use of biodegradable materials, in order to preserve the environment for future generations.
